description. George is a multi-award winning Russian photographer who's come to prominence over the last few years after exhibiting international and receiving numerous accolades for his work. Twelve years ago George got to know the works of such artists as Frantisek Drtikol, Horst P. Horst, Erwin Blumenfeld and realized that the most interesting component in a photograph is the often-discounted but dramatic border between light and shadow. From this point he began to explore this theme within his own work. In addition, light and shadow developed a symbolic meaning for him and has led to him making works that have a sense of magic and stillness in the harmony of the two extremes butted up against each other. George looks to break this down by adding a person on the border of light and shadow. In turn, this changes the otherwise harmonious relationship between these two extremes and brings them into conflict with one another. The woman's figure in the photographs is a fictional character who is constantly searching for harmony but will never be able to obtain it.
